My Productivity Tutor 🧑💻
Productising productivity
Available Domain: Myproductivitytutor.com
💡 TLDR: A platform which teaches people how to be productive and holds them accountable to it
1. Problem/Opportunity❓
The Problem/Opportunity: Hot take - the ability to work, like really work and be really productive, is a skill. It needs to be learned, practiced and honed over time. Because let’s face it…most of us are ridiculously unproductive.
Learning how to be truly productive could be incredibly transformative for someone…and for your bank account. So let’s build a business around this.
Market Size: The global productivity management software market size was valued at $55 billion in 2023. While this doesn’t exactly fit that market definition it’s not a bad proxy for it.
2. Solution ✅
The Idea: A program which teaches people how to be productive and holds them accountable to it
How it Works:
Users sign up to the program which they complete in small cohorts which meet regularly to keep everyone motivated and accountable
They are assigned personal productivity coaches who check in on them daily and works with them to get the most from the program
Participants also receive productivity tracking software, education and best practice approaches to working as part of the program too
Go-to-market: Find reddit forums where people are complaining about procrastination. These are your first customers.
Business Model: Monthly subscription fee
Startup Costs: $0
3. How You’ll Get Rich 💰
Hold: This could be a great cash flowing business for whoever builds it

THE MONEYSHOT
The $1 Billion Dollar WordPress Blog
There’s a rule in business: if you’re early to a mega trend, you can ride that wave to build an incredible business.
That’s exactly what Syed Balkhi did and how he did it.
Back in 2002 Syed moved from Pakistan to the US with his family when he was just 12 years old. He taught himself English and started building websites at age 13 for local businesses for c.$250 each.
Building websites at the time was a slog.
But then, 3 years later, Syed discovered the magic of WordPress.
Wordpress is an open source tool for creating websites and Syed realised that this was a gamechanger in the web development game.
In 2009, 3 years after discovering WordPress, he decided to go all in it, which in hindsight was a brilliant move.
Today WordPress powers around 474 million (or 43%) of the world’s websites.
Syed decided to launch a blog called WP Beginner to help others learn and use Wordpress. It contained a huge amount of free information and guides on how to use the platform.
And it blew up.
Today Syed’s blog still gets around 1m visitors per month.
After making his first million. by age 21 Syed realised he could do better.
He monetized the site with affiliate deals and ads, but that wasn’t enough. Instead he decided to buy WordPress plugins and then out them through his distribution on the blog.
When these were making money he’d reinvest the profits to buy more plugins and rinse and repeat.
Today Syed’s WordPress empire makes more than $100m revenue per year and is valued at over $1bn.
