Home Health Assessments ☠️
Home is where the heart is (healthy)
Available Domain: Homexamine.com
💡 TLDR: A service which completes a full health assessment of your home and offers suggestions to improve it
1. Problem/Opportunity❓
The Problem/Opportunity: Everyone is getting more and more health conscious. People are worried about microplastics, air quality, water filtration systems, the list goes on and on. And it turns out Alex Hardy has been thinking something very similar.
Good call Alex. Here’s how this would work.
Market Size: The global household cleaning products market is sitting around $270bn right now
2. Solution ✅
The Idea: A service which completes a full health assessment of your home and offers suggestions to improve it
How it Works:
A customer contacts the service and agrees to allow a health inspection of their home
A team goes to the person’s house and completes a wide variety of tests including air quality tests, water purity tests, cleaning product inventory, allergen tests and so on
Customers are then sent a report along with suggestions on what steps they need to take to make their home safer
Go-to-market: Research areas which have older houses in your area which are more likely to have toxins and start from ther
Business Model: Offer free house inspections and sell products to improve their home’s safety
Startup Costs: You’ll need to invest some capital upfront in order to buy some testing equipment, but you’ll be good to go after that
3. How You’ll Get Rich 💰
Hold: This is a boring, cash flowing business if ever I’ve seen one. Unlikely to get a venture scale exit but could do millions per year in revenue

Aside from AI, GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy is the fastest growing space in the world. These weight management drugs are being hailed as miraculous and more and more generic versions are emerging, like Hims & Hers launching their cheaper version this week.
By 2030, research shows that nearly 9% of the U.S. population, about 30 million people, could be using GLP-1 drugs. So by thinking about the second and third order effects of this business ideas will naturally emerge. It’s our job to find them.

THE MONEYSHOT
Building a +$80m Business for $60
Noah Kagan had quite the journey in the first decade of his career.
We’ll let him summarize it…
But then in 2010, he had an idea. A very simple idea.
He wanted to create a website that offered highly discounted deals on software products. I told you it was simple.
Kagan began by emailing the founder of Imgur, an image-sharing service popular on Reddit, and offered to promote a discounted version of the software in exchange for a percentage of what he sold.
Then he reached out to Reddit’s founding engineer to ask if he could advertise the deal on the site for free.
“Why not?” Kagan recalls hearing. “Our users love Imgur. They’ll be thrilled to get a discount.”
He paid a developer in Pakistan $48 to build a website with a PayPal button and spent $12 on a domain name. One weekend, $60 down, and he was up and running. The rest, as they say, is history.
AppSumo did about $80 million in revenue in 2023.
Not a bad return on $60 of initial investment.
